Unfortunately, this article does show that xenophobia is pervasive across the world, and it does lead to violence... its not just about 'whats right' its about keeping this country safe.

I kinda like this article... I appreciate the way it describes the 'routine' for politicians to denounce Castro, promising to 'free' it, and what not...sort of like house chores... I also appreciate the new piece of how there are more Latino Democrats registered in FL than Republican. I've read, years ago, how the demographic shift is changing the views of politics in FL... so I'm excited to see people are paying attention to it... better late than never I guess.

So, to cause controversy and to see what people think, I'll go ahead and tell you what my view is. I think its everyone's right to think how they want to think, to follow any particular context or paradigm or ideology you please (with the understanding that you will face resistance disagreement, etc.) But what I haven't appreciated in my many conversations with others about Castro/Cuba... is the complete dichotomy of the conversations, in particular with those who are against Castro... its a 'believe me, or you're full of shit" black/white argument that goes no where. Maybe I haven't met the right person to talk to about this...

I understand you hurt, I understand that you are passionate, but many of times... the Anti-Castro crowd comes at me like fascists... forcing me to agree, putting me down if I don't see it 100% of the way they do. It no longer becomes a conversation, but a lecture, a mandate, a one-sided ideological imposition that is being shoveled down my throat.

This reminds me of an incident when I was working at a Latino cultural center in Philly, and a student group wanted to put on a "Che" event and talk about how he has done good for poor folks. So, I get a call from an alum who goes on to say "I don't agree with you putting this event on, this is so one-sided... I can't believe it!! This is wrong to put on, and I think you shouldn't include this in your calendar" (he admits to me he is Cuban). My response to him was, "As a center for education, I value the voices and viewpoints of others... despite the fact they differ from my own. And, if you feel that another voice is needed in this larger discourse, I encourage you to come to me with an event that shares your viewpoint, and I'll be happy to put the event on the calendar."

Did I get a call back... nope

"No Vocal Refix" appears (and rewound!!!) at 10:24 on the broadcast and "Dread Stomp" comes in at 30:38.

The set overall was great, I'm happy that folks such as RickyRicardo are supporting local producers. This is a big milestone for me to hear my songs being mixed next to Skream's "Chestboxing" and "Haunted" by Digital Mystikz.

Hip Hop that I hope for... Up-and-coming and regular...

Massive update.... Whats BEEN in my box!!

Wow... yes, its been a whole lotta minutes since I've touched down on this jonx... so what the hell have I've been doing, into, etec... here is a quick recap... why do you need to know you ask? Who knows

1. Work life: finishing monograph, dealing with first 'boss' issues (she comes at you like a lion on the safari), went to Houston for American Association of Blacks In Higher Education Conference (got a free Cohiba, met random dude who I think was 'un gay' LOL!! as well as saw some hot older Black women)

*disclaimer* my generalist crush on older Black women happens to come from the goddess of older black women, Claire Huxtable!!! Since then, awww... I melt!!! LOL

OK, then I went to Denver for a REAL good conference on Diversity... hung out with this cool ass director, and met a great staff and community... and then I saw my other crush... hot sophisto Latina women!!

*disclaimer 2* To be quite honest, the Latinas I met in Denver were absolutely beautiful!! No joke!! I swear to God, if nothing pops here, I'm moving there and marrying ANY OF THEM!! LOL

2. Personal life: Well, quite honest, its been rather hard to meet folks these days... hanging out with friends here and there, thank God I have music to keep me alive and normal, otherwise, I seriously would be in a state of depression.

Music is well, I'm getting into my full groove, sent out my first 15 tracks to RickyRicardo (cool ass dude BTW) and hoping for feedback. to be honest, most of those tracks were a bit old, and so I don't think they represent my 'mode' at present, but i felt they needed to get out there.

biking has become my life....

Also, I'm trying to be cool about women... I've realized that I come on too strong and i'm learning how to pull back and just be normal. I hope it pays off... BTW, I like eating ice-cream and going on bike rides, random banter is nice and I don't mind showing me the stars through a telescope one day... heh heh heh... oh yeah, trail mix from Trader Joes is actually quite tasty.

*disclaimer 3* I'm actually in a good place that I feel I can provide a mature and fun vibe, no more juegos... for real, that shit is done and done...

i had a good time with moms and grandma on Mothers Day...

My heart and soul goes out to my godfamily. I love Rafael with all my heart and I'm upset/sad that he has to go that way. I don't get it, he has done nothing but good for his fam. My heart goes out to them... I plan on visiting to say goodbye.

So you see, shits been busy, but yet I'm feeling kinda lonely and empty...

Other than that... downloading Post-Punk (Interpol, Mission of Burma, etc) Its weird that my ipod is all rocked out, but my life and vibe is all beats and dub... oh well... BUT I did download a good set of hip hop from Flying Lotus, Dabrye, Diverse, and Cadance Weapon, them dudes are fucking fire...
