What I liked in 2009

This was a great year for opening up new beat patterns, and I think my choices this year reflect this opening up for innovation. Synths got played with great bass, syncopation and swing were back in interesting ways. UK Funky shook things up and really challenged folks to think outside the box. I'm sad cause Hip Hop really suffered for me, but there are glimpses of greatness along the way. I'm also feeling the nastiness from Cumbia too. Happy New Year!
